is an imposing and impressive aristocratic manorhouse belonging to one of the most important families in the history of Sicily. It has a long history of providing first class hospitality to illustrious visitors. The villa is located on the East coast between Catania and Siracusa and is just 15 minutes drive from the sea. Villa dei Marchesi's origins date back to the 13th century and the main house is set out on two floors, having its own private church and bell tower. The single storey ?Palmento? (formerly housing the grape press), stables and other outbuildings surrounding an enormous courtyard beside the villa provide further accommodation, with 13 bedrooms in all. The villa has two gardens of 10 acres in total which are a stunning reflection of the owner's passion for gardening. The first has lawns leading to the pool area interspersed with pines, palms and succulents. The second is a self contained Arabic style garden with ponds, fountains, paved mosaics, streams and seating areas complementing a huge variety of plants and flowers, and from which guests will enjoy spectacular views of Etna. The villa sits in seclusion within an agricultural estate of 100 acres, with citrus and olive groves, and has a hard surfaced tennis court with its own changing rooms.
Guests at Villa dei Marchesi will experience authentic Sicilian hospitality and a chance to relive the sensations of genuine aristocratic living, pampered as they will be by modern conveniences such as air conditioning and by a professional staff of six. The butler, two cooks, and three maids will be on duty 7 days a week and all meals will be specially prepared and served in favoured locations around the house and grounds.
