Italy - Apulia - Salento villas

Basic information

Available from January to December. Location Seaside - Sleeps 14 - Bedrooms 7 - Bathrooms 7 - Pool

This stunning, luxurious and elegant villa was built in the 17th century. Formerly designed as the fortified country residence of a local aristocrat, it evolved to become the centre of a large estate devoted to agriculture. Situated a few miles away from the coast and at about six miles south of Taranto the white sandy beaches and clear waters of the Ionian sea can be easily reached by car in less than 15 minutes. Perfectly located in the heart of Apulia this property presents many opportunities to explore the local area and memorable excursions can be easily arranged: Grottaglie, made famous for its ceramics, the enchanting baroque town of Martina Franca with its classical music festival and the architectural jewel Ostuni with its fabulous Cathedral overlooking pristine beaches are just a taste of the delightful places that can be reached within an hour’s drive. The main house is built around a spacious interior square courtyard with ample and comfortable living quarters located on the upper floor. Tastefully furnished, Masseria del Pizzariello  epitomises the refinement and timeless luxury that was cultivated by the nobles and is an intoxicating expression of Italian Renaissance style.

The Main House: To enter, you pass across a large courtyard enlivened by a charming white statue. Elegantly built stairs ascend to the upper floor of the house and to where Pizzariello’s front door opens onto its entrance hall. On the left, a spacious dining room is followed by the kitchen and a shaded terrace with superb views of the local countryside - a great ideal venue for al fresco dining. Beyond the dining room, there is a handy study and double bedroom with walk-in closet and en suite bathroom with tub. The bathroom has French windows that access the flat rooftop from which you can reach a small tower, quaintly known as the “meditation room”. To the right of the main hall the generous living room with fireplace leads to a double bedroom with an adjacent bathroom with tub. The corridor then leads to two twin bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom with shower.
The Cottage: To the right of the courtyard of Villa Pizzariello. Its main door gives onto a large living room with dining table. French windows access an attractive  terrace at garden level. The living room stands alongside a small but fully-equipped kitchen. Further on from the dining and living area there are one twin bedroom, and  en suite bathroom with shower and one double bedroom with en suite bathroom with tub.
Guests can also make use of a large room reached from the courtyard. With its wood-fire oven this extra room is an appropriate location for pizza dinners and banquets.
