Villa Afrodite. The striking feature of Villa Afrodite is the galleried hall that greets you as you step through the villa’s imposing entrance. The 28 columns forming a galleried, double-height hall of impressive proportions with a frosted glass and wrought iron ceiling will take your breath away. The grand piano to your left on entering is absolutely correct for such surroundings, setting the tone for the style of residence the owner has created with the major part of an original Medici villa dating back to the 15th century. The rooms surrounding the hall have all been recently and stylishly decorated and furnished. The villa stands in the owner’s 600 acres of forest-covered hills typical of the Garfagnana, a rural area fabulous for nature lovers and yet convenient for the art cities of Northern Tuscany as well as the beaches of the Ligurian and Tuscan coasts and the fashionable resort of Forte dei Marmi. The villa is approached via a terrace from which you can see the waterfall-style swimming pool and an 18th century grotto fountain complete with Koi carp.
The caretaker’s premises are to the side of the terrace which also has a garden area and a large gazebo-shaded table for al fresco dining.
For larger parties, the apartments of next door Casal Garfagnana are available for rent with Villa Afrodite.
