Nestling in the heart of the world-famous Chianti Valley, just thirty minutes from Florence itself, stands “Villa di Montespertoli.” This graceful country residence is near the ancient town of Castelfiorentino on the Francigen Route, once the main thoroughfare from Rome to France. “Villa di Montespertoli” is steeped in history. Its origins date back to the early years of the 13th century when a powerful Longobard clan from the Elsa Valley – the Conti Albertis - chose this as the site for their castle, later converted into the elegant villa you can see today. The Conti Alberti family owned the property until the 17th century and traces of the original 13th-century fort in the square brick tower and the walls alongside the villa are still discernible.
